The prison choir

The Prisoner's Choir is a series of portraits of inmates and former inmates singing together, which is portrayed together with a human being who means a lot to them. Participants in the Prisoner's Choir often perform in the country's churches with songs and personal stories about life inside and outside the walls. Several of the songs have been written by the inmates themselves, and include about hope, renunciation, forgiveness, and remorse. The prison choir is a resocialisation project in the Danish Prison and Probation Service. You can read more about Fangekoret at www.fangekoret.dk. The portrait series is my graduation project from the Master's degree in portrait photography, which I completed in November 2020.
